Auxiliary Guide
This course is the first step for a candidate who wants to be canyoning professional. This level aims to prepare specialist technicians to work as an Auxiliary Guide under the supervision of a lead guide. This course consists of 3 modules: e-learning module (learning fundamental knowledge for the professional practice of canyoning); Rope Techniques module (learning the various rope techniques, communication, safety attitude, etc.) Águas Bravas module (learning progression in high flows). The totality of the modules corresponds to 110 hours of training, training, and work for the trainees. In addition, we discuss various theoretical knowledge necessary for the professional practice of canyoning.
Goals:
- Enable the trainee to operate as an auxiliary guide in commercial canyoning groups
- Know and perform different rope and water movement techniques for progression in canyoning
- Communicate and work as a team
- Know and install the various canyoning systems, in various types of anchorages
- Understand and perform rescue techniques according to the situation found
- e-learning module: available 15 days before the course
- Rope Techniques: 7 days
- Rope Techniques Exam: 1 day
- White water (progression with high flow): 2 days
- Daily evaluation: the trainee is assessed daily on 8 parameters | 50% of final grade
- Final exam: taken by an assessor other than the course instructor | 50% of final grade
- Theoretical evaluation: to be successful in the theoretical evaluation, the trainee must have a grade greater than or equal to 80% in all components
- Quantitative evaluation: in the rope techniques component, the evaluation is quantitative
- Daily evaluation: the trainee is evaluation daily
- Qualitative evaluation: in the whitewater component, the evaluation is qualitative
- Trainees who want to start their journey as canyoning professionals
- Professionals who want to gain knowledge in a model and philosophy of guiding clients in canyoning
- Practitioners who want to achieve a high level of autonomy and exploration in the sport
- Previous experience in canyoning
- Availability and physical condition to practice nature sports
- Personal protective equipment (own)
